Well Yahoo has found me even if Google hasn’t!
Just a quick update on Losing weight on a wheat free diet – well I say quick, but once I start writing, who knows what ramblings may ensue….
Jahoo for Yahoo! A visit from them and also MSN, so somewhere outside of Squidoo the lens is being found, even if Google will feature my blogs and also my Weight loss group in preference to the actual lens!
Stats for February 26
Visits: 188
Star ratings: Average 5, rated by 38 people – no increase in a week!
Lensrank: 10,117 (uh, oh – the blessings have faded and so have the visits)
Backlinks: 785 from 10 domains
Angel blessings: 3
The highest ranking so far: 453
Well, it looks like I will just have to be patient and hope the lens picks up soon. But it looks like the average will drop out of the Top Tier.
The Spambait review took approx 48 hours
Squid Etiquette tripped the Spambait filter – as I said before, I think it may have been the module: “Let’s Trade Ratings”! But I was only joking – honest!
Anyway I got a nice email from HQ to say it had obviously got caught up in the filter by accident. But that’s OK, because personally I would prefer that they are over-cautious and it is good to hear that it is picking up more lenses that should not be out there.
Am still having trouble understanding why it is ranked so low though. It gets far more traffic than some of my other lenses.
Is this the most frustrating thing that happens on Squidoo?
The rankings on some of my lenses have been going along quite nicely. But why oh why, with only a few days to go to month end do they start dropping so badly that the average on some will drop a tier by the end of the month!

I empathize with you, AJ, with regard to the the rankings change towards the end of the month. I still notice this happening with mine. They sail along nicely for most of the month and then take a sudden dive. I believe there are some Lensmasters out there who still believe that the last day of the month is the time when lensrank is crucial to earnings.

Congrats on your lens being found in yahoo – that’s a bit sooner than I expected to be honest. Yahoo is always slow. Hope it’s the start of a trend

Congratulations to you and to the Squidoo team for such a quick turnaround on your lens that tripped the spam filter.

I often have the same question about why a lens with “scads” more traffic ranks lower than another lens. I guess it has to do with clickouts – or -possibly star ratings. Clickouts and sales will definitely push a less frequently visited lens up. There are multiple ways to get the good lensrank apparently, and visits are just one of them. Ideally, of course you would get both!
Visits are meaningful only if the page is useful for the person visiting; a targeted visitor. One measure of this is the # of clickouts and sales. (I’m guessing) We all know of course this doesn’t capture the usefulness of the info. but it is one way of ranking things.
