I finally got that new lens published….

…that I wanted to publish on Monday! The trouble is that I keep getting distracted by Tagfoot, Twitter and a host of other sites that I am checking out to see what works for me and what doesn’t.

Lewis Smile kicked off quite a debate about how Google does not recognise tags on Squidoo anymore on his blog at: SquidooCool. I don’t begin to understand the whys and wherefores about this….deep sigh! But as far as I can gather tags are still useful for being found within Squidoo, so I for one shall still spend a boring ten minutes once I have created a lens adding tags. Then at least if the situation changes with Google I wont then have to spend days going back and sorting out old lenses.

Another comment that was made got me thinking about e-books and particularly e-books that attempt to shortcut all the navigating around Squidoo that you can end up doing to find out how to Squidoo. Someone commented that they had shelled out $7 for an e-book that went into aspects of tagging. So I wonder how many people are actually shelling out money for out of date info. Do all these e-book authors keep an eye on what is happening on Squidoo and then rush to update? Hmmm.

I have also seen comments lately from Lensmasters who just happen to land on a lens and then to their delight find out that their lens has been featured. If I feature someone else’s lens on mine then I always whizz them an email to let them know and give them the opportunity not only to go and have a look but also let me know if they like what I have done. I have yet to get a response asking me not to feature their lens, but I guess there could always be a first time!

More good news from the Forum - following a lot of protest (some of it from moi), HQ have said that they are going to make it part of the Squidoo Ts & Cs that all Avatars have to be G-Rated, which is great news. I believe e-mails are being sent to people to give them a chance to change their Avatar. Note to moi: check out your Fan club to see if that certain Avatar is still there!

Oh and before I forget, lens number 14 has been published Prince Charles - King in waiting. The dear old boy is the world’s oldest heir to a throne and he is 60 in a few weeks time. So this is an experiment to see how much Google traffic I get as we near his birthday on 14th November. So, I s’pose I had better go off and promote it!

On the personal front I start my Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy tomorrow, which will hopefully help me overcome the problems caused by Otosclerosis and help me get more mobile again.

And tonight I start rehearsing a show. I am probably certifiably insane to even try to do it, but I am going stir crazy and by the time we take to the stage in January, I should be OK…….

Good choice for a new lens. I somehow think Charlie will be passed by though, much to his disgust I am sure, althouth Auntie Liz is getting on, but I don’t see her abdicating any time soon.

Perhaps this lens about Squidoo and google will help you understand the importance (or lack thereof) of tags better. They aren’t totally useless, just not very important either: http://www.squidoo.com/seo-squidoo
